Winter cold is here

Wintertime memories...On this lazy Sunday I watched the pictures that my roommate Laurence gave me on a CD. All the pictures of our adventures together in Chicago and Delaware. Videos too. Like those videos that Laurence took at the Ray Lamontagne concert in Detroit. We took a 4 hours drive to Detroit with Dan on the first weekend of December just for the show and we had a good time :-)
Good memories!
Hold you in my arms chorus - Live in Detroit (wav)
Ray Lamontagne - Hold you in my arms (full song)

Talking about concerts, I am going to one soon (Nov. 12th) in Paris this time and only a 30min metro ride away. 4 different bands will play:
Bloc Party
We are from Barcelona
Does it offend you, yeah?
These new puritans
For those who don't know the bands (I didn't before I bought my ticket and looked them up on MySpace) here are two tracks:
Bloc Party - Flux (mp3)
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Let's Make Out (mp3)

A while ago I said my favorite Arcade Fire song was "No cars go". I just love everything about this song: the music, the rhythm, the lyrics, the beginning, the end... Enjoy!
Arcade Fire - No Cars Go (mp3)
Go! No go!!!

Some Nelly Furtado

Although my favorite song is the one that goes "Innanay... (yeah) Innany... (yeah) Sayiry... (yeah) Sayida... (yeah)" I thought I'd post some other songs that are, in my opinion, easier to understand (and pretty good songs too) :-)
Nelly Furtado - Somebody to love (mp3)
Nelly Furtado - Afraid (mp3)

It's been a long time...

The songs that I have played the most in the last two months:

Arcade Fire – Rebellion (Lies) (wma)
A beautiful song from a band that I discovered recently (even if it’s not a new band) when I heard “No Cars Go” on the radio (from their latest CD, I will try to post it soon). I am very excited to go to their show in Berkeley with Blythe (June 1).

Peter Bjorn and John – Young Folks (mp3)
Song from a commercial on TV.

Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip – Thou Shall Always Kill (mp3)

Heard on WXPN (my favorite radio station ever) one morning on my way to work. I find it very funny.

LCD Soundsystem – North American Scum (mp3)

My latest favorite band (I know, it changes very often).

The Decemberists – O Valencia! (mp3)

Souvenir from a great show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas with my family. “Speciale dedicace” to Papounet, Virginie, Lyla, Lara and Alex.

Modest Mouse – The Dashboard (wma)

Great song, great CD but crappy concert in Philadelphia: bad sound and bad atmosphere, very disappointing. I guess you can’t make good music if you’re too drunk.

Melissa Etheridge – Bring Me Some Water (wma)

Song from Blythe. Very good to sing in the shower.

Bears – When You’re Away (mp3)

A cool song found on the internet.

Bright Eyes – No One Would Riot For Less (mp3)

A new song from one of my favorite American singer-songwriter. The CD case is very original, I love it. The music is good too. This is a beautiful sad song.

Matchbox 20 – If You’re Gone (mp3)

Come back.

CocoRosie – Rainbowarriors (mp3)

Weird song from a French band.

Delaware, Delaware...

Here I am, in little Bear, DE. It's cold, grey and boring outside so there's nothing better than good music to lift my spirit up!
My favorite song of the moment:
Beirut - Elephant Gun (mp3)
Enjoy :-)

New Year's Eve Concert in San Francisco (on the 30th!!!)

Last Saturday, Blythe and I went to this great concert: Gnarls Barkley and The Flaming Lips were playing at the Civic Auditorium.
When we got there I had the good suprise to hear a voice that I already knew: Cat Power was opening the show. Then Gnarls Barkley came on stage dressed like astronauts and created a very energetic atmosphere.
There were balloons attached to the ceiling and we bet if it was for tonight or tomorrow and I won: the singer of the Flaming Lips said that he didn't care what day it was, tonight was a great New Year's Eve party :-)
The Flaming Lips and Gnarls Barkley even performed "What a wonderful world" together.

Here comes the music:

(No Gnarls Barkley because I think everybody already know)

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi battles the pink robots (mp3)
One of their most popular song I think. After what seemed like the end of the song they started over and had the crowd sing the chorus two more times.

The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize (mp3)
One of the last song they played. It's about how we need to realize that life is precious and beautiful.

Cat Power - The Moon (mp3)
My favorite song from her latest CD "The Greatest".

Chicago 2006 - The playlist (to be completed)

Here comes the music:

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy (mp3)
The hit of the summer.

Guster - Lightning rod (mp3)
I bought the CD in June and played this song a lot, the first one on the CD and my favorite.

Nelly Furtado and Chris Martin - All Good Things (mp3)
Really nice song that Rob gave me.

Augustana - Boston (wma)
A song that played very often on the radio and that I had on a CD I won at Old Navy and took with me on my trip in Utah

More music:

Sean Lennon - Dead Meat (mp3)
I noticed on msn messenger that my brother was listening to that song so I was curious and listened to it and loved it.

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars (mp3)
One of my favorite song this past summer. Even if it's been playing so much on the radio I think I can never get sick of it.

Sufjan Stevens - Sister Winter (mp3)
A beautiful "Christmas song" from Sufjan Stevens, one of my favorite songwriter.

The Dresden Dolls - Sing (mp3)
It starts slow and quiet and ends very loud and powerful. Another band I discovered at Lollapalooza.

The Killers - When You Were Young (mp3)
The new hit from the Killers.

The Shins - Phantom Limb (mp3)
My favorite band these days. This comes from their new album. I hope I will go to their show one of these days.

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife 3 (mp3)
The CD I listen to the most in November!

Tokyo Police Club - Citizens Of Tomorrow (mp3)
Heard on the Hype Machine. I'm not a big fan of other songs from this band but that one is nice.

U2 - Window In The Skies (mp3)
And of course the new U2 song. Please note that I'm not a big fan like I used to but still Bono's voice makes me feel feelings.
